Us Weekly broke the news back in August when a source told the magazine that “he cheated on her,” and another insider revealed that “she’s devastated.”
Now, the rapper opened up about their split in an interview with HuffPost Live on Monday, July 13, and he denied rumors that they called it quits because he was unfaithful.
“Everybody already had their speculation on what happened. A lot of people said, ‘Man, he cheated, he cheated…’ because I feel like 95 percent of relationships end with cheating, but me and her relationship had nothing to do with cheating. I feel like we was just growing away from each other and we grew apart,” the musician told HuffPost Live.
“You the man, you wanna make certain decisions for yourself and she wanna make certain decisions. And I feel like the best route for me is to make more music, to go back to Atlanta and go back to my roots, to do what I feel good for my family.”
“Now when you the man you wanna make the decisions for your family, sometimes the lady don’t see what you see. That was a hard situation but at the end of the day it wasn’t about that. I called off [the engagement] way before any cheating rumors came out. The engagement was already off,” he explained.
Ciara, 29, and Future, 31, who are the parents to son Future Zahir Wilburn, 14 months, started dating in early 2013, and they became engaged in October that same year.
