One side of the coin is designed by artist Christopher Le Brun and it bears the image of Christian martyr Saint George fighting the dragon, and the other side features a portrait of the Prince’s great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, created by Jody Clark.

The design of the coin was approved by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Queen and the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne.

Princess Charlotte’s christening was marked by the Royal Mint as well, with the release of a series of £5 coins available in gold and silver.

His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge was also honored by the Royal Mint back in 2013 with the occasion of his baptism with the creation of three commemorative coins.
