HRH Duchess of Cambridge
But that was an exception, as the Duchess of Cambridge’s favorite children’s designer, Rachel Riley, talked with People about Charlotte’s outfits by the age of one.
“Because they’re a traditional family, I’m sure that she’ll wear babysuits for the first year, and then only when she’s walking will she then move into dresses,” the designer told the magazine.
“Even in terms of separates, I don’t think she’ll be wearing separates until much later,” Riley also said.
Kate Middleton opted to dress up her son Prince George for his sister’s first official portraits in a Rachel Riley shorts and shirt set.
At Charlotte’s christening, George also wore a traditional Rachel Riley two-piece, a replica of the outfit worn by Prince William when he met his brother Prince Harry for the first time, in 1984.

Back in August, Duchess Kate’s favorite children’s designer talked about the “Prince George Effect,” saying that, “Everything he wears is so popular.”
