The 32-year-old musician opened up to Cosmopolitan magazine [via Entertainment Tonight] about how she handles the divorce from the 39-year-old country singer, who is currently in a new romance with The Voice co-star Gwen Stefani, and about her life after the separation.
“Marriage is a tough business, and we gave it our best college try,” The Little Red Wagon star told the magazine.
Lambert maintains a positive attitude towards her ex and she admits that she’s not ready for a new relationship yet, as she is still processing the split.
“I had a great relationship with an amazing man, so I know what good is. I have a great launching pad for the future. I will never take that for granted,” she said.
“Some of that might mean nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey, and going, ‘Man, this sucks right now.'”
Lambert broke down in tears on stage a few days after announcing her and Blake’s divorce in July, during a performance of “The House That Built Me.”
The Over You singer recently headed home to Texas for Thanksgiving where she received a welcome present from her mother.
“Nothing beats a handwritten note from Mom. #homesweethome #cheetosandwine,” Lamber wrote on Wednesday on Instagram.
