Kate Middleton is given patronage of the RAF Air Cadets by Prince Philip

Prince Philip transmitted his patronage of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets to the Duchess, née Kate Middleton, after 63 years as Air Commodore-in-Chief, on Wednesday, during a ceremony which took place at Buckingham Palace.

Duchess Kate has become the Honorary Air Commandant of the Air Cadet Organization.

The British Monarchy shared several photos on its official Twitter account from the ceremony.

Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty handed The Duke of Edinburgh a gift, an engraved crystal vase with the 75th anniversary logo, while The Duchess of Cambridge received a book.

Also on Wednesday, the British Royal Family gathered for Queen Elizabeth II’s Christmas lunch at the Palace.

Prince William did not attend the event.
