Prince William talks about one of his and wife Catherine’s ‘favourite programmes’

Downton Abbey ended its sixth series with a final episode that ran on Christmas Day, and Prince William was one of those avid fans who paid his respects to the successful series.

Duchess Kate’s husband was among the celebrities paying tribute to the show at a ceremony at Richmond Theatre, and he revealed that the series is “one of Catherine’s and my favourite programmes.”

“When I first heard that Downton Abbey was to receive the BAFTA special award, I was absolutely thrilled,” William, 33, said. “As the president of BAFTA, I’m delighted that we are paying tribute to this extraordinary series that has flown the flag for British drama both at home and internationally.”

Fans of the show include Sir Anthony Hopkins, who revealed that he “watched the entire series, didn’t miss episode.” Rapper Sean “P Diddy” Combs and Sharon Osbourne also loved the series.

In fact, Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s mother, 33, visited the set of Downton Abbey at London’s Ealing Studios this spring.

Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge smelled “like roses,” when stepping out on the set of the British drama series in March.
