Kate Middleton and Prince William to visit Bhutan in the spring

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, and her husband Prince William’s visit to Bhutan was announced on Friday by Kensington Palace on its official Twitter account.

William and Kate are set to encounter Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, 35, and his wife Queen Jetsun Pema, 25, during their trip to the Himalayan kingdom. The Duke and Duchess’ visit comes at the same moment as their upcoming tour of India.

Prince George, 2, and his sister, Princess Charlotte, eight months, won’t join their parents on this visit.

The King and Queen of Bhutan, who married in 2011, the same year as Kate and William’s Royal Wedding, are expecting their first child, a son.

Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck announced his wife’s pregnancy in November on his official Facebook page. Queen Jetsun is due next month.

Bhutan’s Dragon King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his stunning wife Queen Jetsun Pema shared a photo earlier this month, that showed the Queen’s baby bump.

Another royal member who has visited this country before is Prince Charles, 67, as traveled to Bhutan in 1998.

Also, Prince Harry will go to Southeast Asia this spring, as the Queen’s grandson, 31, is set to visit Nepal for the first time.

Tomorrow, on January 9, Duchess Kate will celebrate her 34rd birthday.
