Kate Middleton took part in tennis workshop hosted by Judy Murray

The 34-year-old royal visited Scotland this week to support a cause which she has been intensely focused on for several months – children’s mental health.

Duchess Kate visited St Catherine’s Primary School in Edinburgh where she sang with the pupils and discussed with the teachers about the “impact” of the charity Place2Be in schools.

Then Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s mother headed to Wester Hailes Education Centre to The Art Room, a charity where students “express their emotions through art.” Kate is a Royal Patron of both charities.

The third stop of Prince William’s wife was at Craigmount High School in Edinburgh, where the sporty Royal, who is a tennis enthusiast, took part in a tennis coaching session held by the Scottish professional tennis player’s mother.

The Palace shared pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge from the tennis workshop.

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, both known to be huge tennis fans, have been given permission to build a new tennis court at their country estate, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

Kate Middleton’s mission to raise awareness about children’s mental health continues in Scotland

The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, visited Scotland on Wednesday and first stopped by St Catherine’s Primary School in Edinburgh, where her little sister Pippa had been a student.

Kate also took the opportunity to observe how the charity Place2Be, of which she has been the Royal Patron since 2013, works to eradicate mental health issues in Scotland.

Then, Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s mother, 34, known in Scotland as the Countess of Strathearn, joined a group of children at Wester Hailes Education Centre, at another one of her charities, The Art Room, which seeks to increase children’s self-esteem through art.

Kensington Palace shared pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge visiting both schools on its official Twitter account.

Later, Kate put aside the elegant outfit for a sportier one, as she joined Andy Murray’s mother, Judy, at her Tennis On The Road roadshow at Craigmount High School for a tennis workshop coaching session.

The Palace also posted photos of Kate showing her tennis skills.

The British Royal has been the patron of The Art Room since January 2012.

Kate Middleton writes about her hopes for Princess Charlotte and Prince George

On Wednesday, February 17, the 34-year-old royal teamed up with the editors of Huffington Post UK to launch the Young Minds Matter campaign. This initiative focuses on the fight against the stigma around mental health, and has been discussed using the hashtag #YoungMindsMatter.

The Duchess, née Kate Middleton, has penned an emotional essay about young people’s mental health, which she deems as vital as physical health.

Prince William’s wife wishes that her children will be open in expressing their feelings, and if they experience problems the royal parents “would not hesitate to seek help for [their] children if they needed it.”

“We hope to encourage George and Charlotte to speak about their feelings, and to give them the tools and sensitivity to be supportive peers to their friends as they get older,” Kate wrote. “We know there is no shame in a young child struggling with their emotions or suffering from a mental illness.”

Kensington Palace shared pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge on its official Twitter page from her first day as guest editor.

The First Lady of The United States, Michelle Obama, also expressed her support to this cause.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been a passionate voice on so many important issues, and I’m grateful that she is using her day as Guest Editor to shine a bright light on mental health, particularly children’s mental health, and on the tens of millions of people who suffer in silence,” Obama wrote on Huffington Post UK.

On the same day, the Palace announced that Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s mother has become of the Anna Freud Centre.

Catherine is also a Royal Patron of the children’s mental health charity Place2Be, which offers support to students and their families.
