Kate Middleton set to become Wimbledon patron

According to the Sunday Times, Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s mother, 34, is set to take over the Queen’s All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, that is host to the Wimbledon championships.

Prince William’s grandmother, who is set to turn 90 in April, will pass her patronage at Wimbledon to the royal after 64 years as patron.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are huge tennis fans, often attend the Wimbledon championships.

Last year in July, the royals watched the Andy Murray-Vasek Pospisil quarter-final match from their Royal Box seats. The Middleton family are known to be fond of this sport, as Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael, were present at the 2015 tournament.

Also, the royal couple plans to build a new tennis court at their Georgian country house, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

And speaking of patronage, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, became the Honorary Air Commandant in December. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh passed his patronage of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets on to Prince William’s wife, after 63 years as Air Commodore-in-Chief.
