Renowned Apple reporter Mark Gurman claims that the Cupertino company is planning to change the home button quite drastically.
Citing “people familiar with the matter,” the journalist reports that the device will be equipped with a Force Touch button, “similar to trackpads in the latest MacBook line”
That means that the button will react depending on the pressure exerted by the user, via haptic feedback.
The report also notes that the new iPhone will ditch the traditional 3.5mm audio jack and replace it with a Lightning and Bluetooth connector. This would provide more room to improve the sound quality of the device.
In addition, echoing previous speculation, the article cites “a person who has used a prototype version of the upcoming device” that reasserts the presence of a dual-lens camera on the iPhone 7 Plus.
Each lens will merge photos captured by each sensor to produce a single picture.
Reports so far have suggested that the iPhone 7 will be announced and scheduled for release in the first two weeks of September.
