Most features of the devices have in fact leaked in recent weeks so there were no big surprises.

One of the most anticipated characteristics was the disappearance of the headphone jack. Lightning EarPods and a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter will be shipped with the handset.

Apple also extensively reworked the sensors of the iPhone. The 4.7-inch iPhone 7 comes with a faster 12-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and a 7-megapixel front-facing sensor.

The 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus embeds a heavily upgraded dual-lens 12-megapixel camera. Its two cameras, each of 12Mpixels, will further zoom into images without loss of quality.

The home button has also been redesigned, featuring a force sensitive design and new generation “Taptic Engine.”

The two devices come with a new generation processor, the A10, advertised as 40% faster than its predecessor.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available for pre-orders on Friday, September 9, with a launch set for Friday, September 16. The iPhone 7 starts at $649 and is avalilable in 32GB/128GB/256GB capacities, while iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769, and comes in the same capacities.

Both feature the pre-installed iOS 10, available for download on September 13.
