Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting their third child, Kensington Palace says

The princely couple is getting ready to welcome royal baby no.3.

The news was confirmed on Monday by Kensington Palace. The pregnancy is said to be less than 12 weeks and it will be the couple’s third child in 5 years.

The Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, was apparently forced to make the announcement as she had to cancel an engagement on Monday because of extreme morning sickness.

“Their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news,” a statement from the Palace read.

“As with her previous two pregnancies, the duchess is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum. Her royal highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road children’s centre in London today. The duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.”

It seems that recent speculation about a third royal pregnancy proved correct. After receiving a toy during a trip to Poland in July, Kate joked with her husband about the need to “have more babies,” feeding the rumors of a third pregnancy.

Whether it’s a girl or boy, the future baby will take fifth place in succession to the British throne, behind Prince Charles, William and George and Charlotte. This royal baby will relegate Prince Harry to sixth place.
