The famous Swedish group Abba has been included in the artists gallery of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with Genesis, The Hollies, Jimmy Cliff and The Stooges, writes the BBC.
At the awarding the trophy ceremony attended only two of the beloved former band members – Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
“I speak on behalf of all. We are extremely honored,” said Andersson. He also said that the band will no longer reunite to play on stage.
After winning the Eurovision in 1974 with the song “Waterloo”, Abba dominated the charts for years also with hits such as “Knowing Me, Knowing You” or “Super Trouper”.
At the yesterday event, held in New York, Andersson has played the song “The Winner Takes It All”, along with country singer Faith Hill.
“I’m very happy that what started long ago with a partnership brought us here tonight,” said Lyngstad, former Andersson’s mate.
