BMW will launch the new tri-turbo diesel engine of 354 HP in 2011

BMW will launch at 2011 Frankfurt Showroom the new diesel engine tri-turbo of 354 horse power and over 700 Nm, following to equip X5 and X6 model.

BMW develops now a new diesel motor, which will break all patterns in what concerns power and consumption. The Bavarians want a tri-turbo unit, able to compete with V8 engines of other German manufacturers.

It seems that the development process is working well and the premium manufacturer intents to launch a tri-turbo diesel in fall 2011 at Frankfurt Showroom.

For now, it is known that the engine will have a 3.0 liters unit and six cylinders in line. With a such power luggage, BMW will be able to compete with V8 engines from Audi and Mercedes.

The tri-turbo engine will be connected to a automatic box with eight reports, developed by BMW with ZF specialists, which can be found o current German range and on the new 5 GT Series. There will also be the Efficient Dynamics technology and Start & Stop.

The first models which will receive under their hoods the new unit with six cylinders will be BMW X5 and X6, these versions following to be called “xDrive 45d”. Gradually, the turbo diesel will be find also in Series 7 and Series 5 range.
