Many people haven’t agreed to award the Nobel Prize for Peace, but one of the nominees for this year will certainly cause more complaints.

BBC said that the Internet, as entity, will be one of the 237 individuals and organizations nominated for the Nobel Prize for Peace this year.

Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided on a shortlist of nominees on March 9, but the list has not been made public.

Even so, those who made the nominations are free to say who they proposed, and according to the BBC, the Nobel Prize for Peace winner of 2003, Shirin Ebadi, and Nicholas Negroponte, the founder of OLPC foundation (One Laptop per Child), proposed the Internet .

The Internet has been proposed for the prize for his role in promoting “dialogue, debate and consensus”. But we will find out only on October 9 if the Nobel Prize for Peace (and a reward of 1.4 million dollars) will be granted to the Internet.

It’s odd. It would be like giving the Nobel to the antirabic serum instead to Pasteur. Or to the telephone network instead to Bell or Meucci.
