Chrysler’s Mopar division is bringing innovation on the market by announcing that the Dodge Dart, which is set to go on sale in June, will be equipped with a new wireless charging system on board.

A power supply measuring 8.27 x 9.5 x 3.25 inches will be placed just below the centre stack and in front of the centre console.

The mobile device will be put in a specially designed phone case and placed on the charging grid. Once the car is started, charging begins.

“At Mopar, we look for every single opportunity to make our customers’ lives easier,” said Pietro Gorlier, president and CEO of Mopar, responsible for the company’s service, parts and customer-care offerings.

“Our industry-first in-vehicle wireless charging system is the perfect solution for those connected customers who are always on the go.”

This option on the Dodge Dart’s system costs an additional $199 or more, not counting the price of installation.

Chrysler’s Dart range will be the first to be equipped with this system starting with early 2013.
