It’s official: Mercedes CLS63 AMG makes its debut today in Los Angeles

After the Biome concept, unveiled yesterday, Mercedes published today the first information and pictures of the new CLS63 AMG, the newest produvt of its performance division. The four-door coupe takes a number of aerodynamic changes, makes room under the hood for the new biturbo M157 V8 engine and promises enviable performances.

To keep up with the other strong names in the industry, CLS63 AMG comes with the new V8 propeller, offered by AMG in two versions of power. The first one delivers 518 horsepower and 698 Nm of torque, a resource that guarantees a sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.4 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km / h.

For the most demanding customers of the Stuttgart manufacturer there is also a Performance Package that delivers a total of 550 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque under the hood. Resources guarantee an acceleration from 0 to100 km / h in 4.3 seconds and a top speed, electronically limited as well, of 300 km / h.

Although the performance of the four-door coupe has improved, compared with the old generation, Mercedes has managed to reduce the consumption by 33 percent.

The V8 engine is assisted by a Speedshift MCT 7 transmission, with seven reports, which comes with a start-stop system, available in run-mode C (Controlled Efficiency). When the box is scheduled to Sport mode (S), Sport Plus (S), the system is idle to save fuel in order to increase the pleasure of driving. There is of course the option M of the Speedshift box, which allows the driver to change gears using the shift paddles positioned behind the steering wheel.

To maximize the excitement offered by the V8 engine, Mercedes has installed a system of departure assistance, named START RACE. The package also includes an adaptive suspension with three functions, Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus, combined with the latest sport steering developed in the AMG workshops. Also, the driver can select three levels of intervention of the ESP safety system.

To properly manage the power baggage, the Mercedes C63 AMG has four perforated discs measuring 360 mm, hidden behind 19-inch wheels with five spokes, shod with 255/35 tires on the front and 285 / 30 on the back. Contrast is provided by red painted calipers.

On the aesthetic level, Mercedes C63 AMG comes with a revised aerodynamic package, which includes a new front spoiler with large air intakes, side skirts and a rear deflector with four tailpipes.

Its debut release will be marked by a special version, Launch Edition, which suggests a body finished in Manganit Grey Magno, a Corteccia Pearl leather interior, combined with the anthracite-colored alcantara. Furnishings are made from carbon fiber and black wood.
