Newport Engineering experts have prepared a canvas roof with automatic operation for the Jaguar XJ L.

Newport Convertible Engineering has thought of a convertible version of the XJ sedan. The experts at Newport used the long-wheelbase version of the British model in order to keep a decent cargo capacity.

According to an official press release by Newport , modifying the jaguar was by far their hardest job yet. Because of this, the company set quite a starting price, $ 130,000, which they explained was due to the high cost of the roof – $ 50,000.

The model features a canvas roof and a folding mechanism which only increases the vehicle weight by 18 kilograms, compared to the series version. Newport used aluminum reinforcing elements on the side and back of the luxury model to maintain the integrity of the cabin.
