Best Dresses: Penelope Cruz vs. Salma Hayek

Only two family members attended the ceremony which was held at a friend’s residence in Bahamas. Penelope Cruz wore a dress created by designer John Galliano.

Penelope Cruz will star in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and will play the daughter of Blackbeard, the new character played by McShane in January.

Filming began in June this year, the film will be released in the summer of 2011. Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem joins a club of married couples of actors who won Academy Awards, which include Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh Frances McDormand and Joel Coen, Alan and Marilyn Bergman.

Mexican actress Salma Hayek and French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault were married in 2009 in Paris. Francois-Henri Pinault, aged 46, is CEO of the holding company PPR – specializing in luxury brands such as Gucci – and is the son of the richest man in France, Francois Pinault.

Hayek and Pinault met in Italy in 2006 and their daughter, Valentina, was born in September 2007.

Salma Hayek, aged 42, is one of the sexiest actresses in Hollywood. She was nominated for an Oscar, for portrait of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in “Frida” (2002).

After years of trying to break into Hollywood the actress says, ironically, now that she is older the roles are flooding in: “I have been really, really lucky, it was really hard at the beginning because of the accent to find roles for me. Now after 20 years they’re beginning to get used to me, so now I am beginning to work – now I don’t want to work so much because I have a family.”

The actress is the executive producer of the famous American TV series – Ugly Betty show.
