Angelina Jolie wants to be a cool mom for her children

Angelina Jolie has agreed to be part of the Kung Fu Panda 2 adventure, with Jack Black.

After the first film’s success in 2008, Po the panda and his friends are back in 2011 for a second episode, in 3D, which will also be presented at the Cannes Film Festival.

On the occasion of the release, Jack Black and Angelina Jolie granted an interview to USA Today and talked about the pleasure to work together again.

Both parents are especially crazy about their offspring. Jack Black admits that his two boys, Thomas, 4, and Samuel, 2, still don’t understand that he lends his voice to the main character.

“The kids just think Kung Fu Panda is an actual bear,” he says.

As for Angelina, mother of Maddox, 9, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 4, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 2, she lets her kids be a part of the development of this sequel, by taking them with her during recording sessions.

“When they’re there and they hear you making kung fu sounds and jumping around, you can see them giggling through the glass. It makes you go that much further,” the 35-year-old actress says.

And since in Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom Of The Doom, the question of adoption is largely addressed, she knew she would have to deal differently with her three adopted children.

“I wondered how they’d respond to the themes of the film,” she says, adding that she and Brad Pitt were “sensitive to see if there was going to be a big discussion that night about adoption and orphanages.”

But it proved that this wasn’t the case: “That’s because we talk about those issues at my house all the time, very openly. We’ve had those discussions so often, they’re such happy, wonderful discussions.”

Angelina’s sole regret is that Po the panda is the hero of her children, not Tigress, to whom she lent her voice.

“The little ones don’t understand yet. They like Tigress, though they might not know why. The older kids get it. Zahara loves tigers.”

“Oh, there’s a little competition in our house,” she says. “I tell them, ‘I know you like Po. But come on. Mom’s cool too, right?’ ”

Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of the Doom arrives in theaters May 26.
