The collaboration between singer John Mellencamp and actress Meg Ryan for the musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County seems to be greater than expected.
Apparently, the actress is rumored to have her share of responsibility in Mellencamp’s recent divorce.
As we have previously reported, on the eve of New Year’s Day, the singer announced his divorce from Elaine Irwin after 20 years together.
Some say he left Elaine for Meg Ryan and many elements support this idea. For example, the actress was recently seen in the audience at several concerts that he held, encouraging him in his current tour.
They also appeared together on the red carpet in TriBeCa (Triangle Below Canal Street), in New York.
Recently, the pair was spotted having coffee at Espresso Love and grocery shopping at Gourmet Garage in New York’s SoHo neighborhood.
“She usually comes in by herself or with her daughter. I thought that was her husband because they seemed for comfortable and familiar with each other, just like an old married couple,” one observer says.
On the other hand, a source close to the 49-year-old actress told People that the two lovebirds have been dating for about seven weeks. The informant said that Mellencamp and his wife had separated long before.
RadarOnline.com has posted a photo showing Meg, John and Elaine having dinner together in New York City after Mellencamp was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall.
Mellencamp has been married three times. He is the father of five children, two born from his marriage to Elaine.
Ryan was married to Dennis Quaid. They divorced in 2001 after 10 years of marriage. They have a son, Jack Henry, now aged 18. Ryan is also the mother of a 6-year-old daughter, Daisy True, whom she adopted from China.
