Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted in his new autobiography that he had a “hot affair” with Brigitte Nielsen during the filming of “Red Sonja” in 1985.
In his autobiography, the former California governor confessed that during the fling he had with Nielsen he was also dating and living with his then-girlfriend Maria Shriver.
The affair, however, was what made him realize he wanted to marry Shriver.
In her own autobiography published last year, Brigitte Nielsen wrote that she had an “outrageous affair” with the actor, but that she wasn’t aware that Schwarzenegger was in a relationship with Shriver.
Schwarzenegger expressed regret in an interview with “60 Minutes” on Sunday, saying that the affair with his housekeeper was “the stupidest thing” he had ever done and that it has caused pain to his now-estranged wife and their four children.
“I think it was the stupidest thing I’ve done in the whole relationship. It was terrible. I inflicted tremendous pain on Maria and unbelievable pain on the kids,” he said.
Maria Shriver filed for divorce in July, 2011.
