Brad Pitt’s sci-fi film World War Z hits theaters December 21st 2012

Paramount will release sci-fi feature film World War Z, starring Brad Pitt, next year on December 21, the studio announced Tuesday.

Brad Pitt takes the lead role and is one of the executive producers of this film that is currently being filmed in the UK. Shooting started last month in Malta and will continue in Scotland and Hungary.

The film tells the story of a United Nations employee, played by Pitt, who travels around the world trying to stop a zombie invasion that seeks to destroy mankind.

The director of the film is Marc Forster and the screenplay was written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, based on the novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War written by Max Brooks.

Pitt’s co-stars include Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale and Daniella Kertesz.
