Charlie Sheen’s publicist Stan Rosenfield resigns

Stan Rosenfield, Charlie Sheen’s longtime publicist, has resigned.

“I worked with Charlie Sheen for a long time and I care about him very much, however, at this time, I’m unable to work effectively as his publicist and have respectfully resigned,” he told TMZ.

The publicist resigned from his position shortly after Sheen granted an improvised interview to TMZ.

As the head of the firm Stan Rosenfield & Associates, the man is responsible for clients such as George Clooney, Helen Mirren and Geoffrey Rush. Rosenfield had worked for Sheen for over ten years and had supported the actor in numerous scandals and setbacks.

When Sheen was hospitalized following an incident in October 2010 at the Plaza Hotel in New York, Rosenfield had said that adverse reactions to prescription drugs were the cause. TMZ got back on this episode in which the actor was more likely drunk and drugged.

After hearing the news, Sheen told TMZ, “P**sy. He’s not allowed to quit, so you’re fired.”

“I was asleep when that statement went out. I wasn’t in control of that one. I respect Stan … Had I conferred with him, I probably would’ve done something better. I don’t know, he’s doing the best he can,” Sheen replied to TMZ Monday morning.

By insinuating that Rosenfield had lied, Sheen caused the resignation of his publicist.
