Colin Firth wins the 2011 Oscar Award for Actor in a Leading Role

The Oscars are a highlight of the year in films and it’s always interesting to see to whom the Academy bestows its highest awards.

Nominations for this year’s Academy Awards were announced on January 25 but, as it always happens, it’s in the middle of autumn that serious things begin.

In the category for Best Actor in a Leading Role there is definitely great competition: in “Biutiful” Javier Bardem shows the portret of a man facing poverty and hardship, in “True Grit” Jeff Bridges presents facts from the point of view of a 14-year-old teenager, Jesse Eisenberg in “The Social Network” shows how he founded and developed one of the most popular social networks around the globe, in “The King’s Speech” Colin Firth tells the story of the man who became king George VI of Great Britain, and in “127 Hours” James Franco presents an incredible story of survival.
