Butch Patrick, the actor who played Eddie Munster in the classic 1960′s show “The Munsters” has checked himself into rehab.

Patrick’s agent, Jodi Ritzen, told E! News that the 57-year-old actor  was seeking treatment for an addiction to alcohol and drugs, adding that “he has had substance abuse issues for probably as long as he can remember.”

“He has suffered with alcohol and drug addiction according to his family probably since he was 17…and he had just broken up with the woman he moved here for,” says Ritzen, referring to Patrick’s recent split from the ex-NFL cheerleader, Donna McCall, who called herself his biggest fan.

The actor’s family has been putting pressure on him to seek professional help for the past 30 years and are “very happy and supportive” of his decision now.
