Elizabeth Taylor has been hospitalized in Los Angeles for a heart problem, her rep said.

Elizabeth Taylor, 78, was admitted this week at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Her rep said Friday that she was hospitalized for a congestive heart failure.

“This issue is being addressed,” the statement says. “She is currently being kept in the hospital for monitoring.”

In 2004 she was admitted in hospital for suffering from heart failure. The actress has undergone twenty surgeries during her life. In 1997, doctors removed a brain tumor.

“Her family and close friends are appreciative of the warm support and interest of her loyal fans but have asked that people respect her privacy and allow her medical team the time and space to focus on restoring her back to health,” the statement also read.

On Wednesday night, Elizabeth Taylor was expected to attend the AmfAR evening gala in New York. Unfortunately, she couldn’t be present.
