British actresses conquer Hollywood but which one is your choice?

Emma Watson

Emma Watson has become famous for playing the role of Hermione Granger, one of the three main characters in the Harry Potter saga.

Watson was chosen to play Hermione at the age of ten. Since then she has appeared in all of the films in the series.

Since November 2010, Emma has been preparing for film My Week With Marilyn film, scheduled for 2011, where she plays the role of Lucy, one of Marilyn Monroe’s costume designers.

Watson’s work on the Harry Potter series has earned her several awards and more than £10 million. Despite the focus on filming, Emma maintains high academic standards. In June 2006, Watson took GCSE examinations in 10 subjects, achieving eight A * and two A grades.

Last year in September, a tabloid ran a cover story about a possible love triangle involving Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Apparently, rumors said that Stewart was uncomfortable about the future collaboration between Watson and Pattinson for their upcoming movie Darc Arc. The Harry Potter star had previously accused the Twilight saga of selling sex.

For this year’s New Year celebrations, Emma partied in the U.S. and not in England. She was seen in California, looking lovely and fresh, upon arrival at Los Angeles, despite a rather long flight between London and the City of Angels.

“Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Can’t believe it’s New Year’s Eve on Friday – where has the year gone??!” she recently tweeted.

The star spent Christmas with her family while working a little, since scenes from the last Harry Potter movie had to be re-shot.

The young actress, who had sacrificed her long hair at the end of the filming for the saga, had to give a little more work to the team of hairdressers, so that she could regain the look of Miss Granger.

Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is a British actress, particularly known for having played in An Education, Pride and Prejudice and Wall Street 2.

She began her career with the role of Kitty Bennett in the 2005 film adaptation of the novel by Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice.

In 2009, she appeared in the movie An Education, which earned her a BAFTA Award for best actress in 2010 and a nomination for an Oscar for best actress.

Her 2010 films included Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the sequel to the 1987 film, and Never Let Me Go.

Mulligan has been linked to Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps co-star Shia LaBeouf in August 2009, after being introduced to each other by the movie’s director, Oliver Stone.

“You could see their chemistry right away, and it was pretty powerful. They were completely professional on the set, but there was no mistaking what was happening,” recalled Stone.

However, in October 2010 it was confirmed that their relationship ended.

Rumors about a possible romance between Mulligan and Tom Sturridge appeared in October 2010 after the two were spotted hanging around together at a Best Western Hotel in Hollywood.

Recently, Carey covers the January 2011 issue of Elle UK. Inside the magazine the actress on meeting Shia LaBeouf, her short hair and not feeling sexy.

On Shia LaBeouf: “I always wanted to work with him, above and beyond anything else, because I thought he was so amazing in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints…. I don’t want to meet all these amazing people, that’s not the thrill – I want to work with them.”

On her short hair: “I hate my hair. After An Education, I had a small part in Michael Mann’s film Public Enemies, and he wanted me to dye it white blonde and it wrecked my hair. Literally, ruined it. It was falling apart, fried. So I had to cut it off. I cried.”

On not feeling sexy: “I’ve never felt like a sexy person… I’ve always felt like a sensible person. I’ve always felt absurd wearing anything revealing. I’ve always felt different here [in Hollywood]. I remember going up for auditions, walking into rooms of girls in denim minis, with cut-off tank tops, tanned legs, long hair and manicures, thinking, ‘Emm…’. But it never made me feel bad. I’ve never felt pressure to look like that.”
