Golden Globe 2012: The Artist tops nominees
The ceremony of the 69th edition of the Golden Globes will take place on January 15 and the nominees have been announced.
With six citations, French film “The Artist” leads the nominations for the Golden Globes, just ahead of “The Help” and “The Descendants” with five nominations each.
Director Michel Hazanavicius thus finds himself in the competition for best director alongside big names like Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen or George Clooney.
The black-and-white movie is present in the categories of Best Film – Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Jean Dujardin), Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Berenice Bejo) and Best Director (Michel Hazanavicius).
George Clooney’s ” The Ides Of March” harvested four nominations, tied with “Midnight in Paris” by Woody Allen and “Hugo” by Martin Scorsese.
TV side, the mini-series “Downtown Abbey” gets four nominees, the same as the mini-series “Mildred Pierce”.
The nominations were announced today by actors Woody Harrelson, Sofia Vergara, Gerard Butler and Rashida Jones at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, California.
The 69th Golden Globe Awards gala, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will be held on January 15 and broadcast live on NBC.
