Johhny Depp compares photo sessions to being raped in interview with Vanity Fair

“You just feel like you’re being raped somehow,” he said. “Raped… It feels like a kind of weird… just weird, man.”

“Whenever you have a photo shoot or something like that, it’s like… you just feel dumb. It’s just so stupid,” he told the publication.

The actor’s comments have outraged anti-sexual violence group RAINN, the Rape And Incest National Network.

Katherine Hull, a spokeswomen for the organization, told Radar Online that they would like to speak to Depp and “educate him about the real life experience faced by survivors every day.”

“While photos may feel at times intrusive, being photographed in no way compares to rape, a violent crime which affects another American every 2 minutes,” Hull said.

Apologizing for his remarks, Depp released a statement Wednesday morning, saying, “I am truly sorry for offending anyone in any way. I never meant to. It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling.”

“I understand there is no comparison and I am very regretful. In an effort to correct my lack of judgment, please accept my heartfelt apology,” he said.

But the 48-year-old actor isn’t the only celeb that came under fire for likening the downside of fame to a rape.

Last summer Kristen Stewart compared the crush of paparazzi cameras to sexual assault.

“I feel like I’m looking at someone being raped,” she said. “A lot of the time I can’t handle it.”

Stewart apologized for what she called “an enormous mistake.”
