Kelsey Grammer says ex-wife Camille Grammer married Frasier

During an interview on Piers Morgan Tonight that aired Monday, Kelsey Grammer attacked his ex-wife, saying that she was just interested in fame.

“Camille asked for a divorce from almost the first day that we were married,” he told Piers Morgan. “And I give a piece of advice to women who say, ‘I want a divorce’ as some sort of tactic. If you say ‘I want a divorce’ enough times, you’re going to get one.”

The actor, 56, told Morgan “I think she married me because I was “Frasier”… You know, he had this great wonderful life … he was stylish … and fabulous, you know, just a little gay … and he was famous. Kelsey Grammer was a different story. You got home and Kelsey Grammer was somebody different.”

Kelsey also told the CNN host that his “parting gift” to Camille was her role in the reality series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

“Whether or not it worked well for her doesn’t matter,” he said. “It was my way of saying, ‘Look, you always wanted to be famous. Here you go.’ ”

“I remember having one conversation where I said, ‘Well, don’t worry about it. After the first season, you can do the Divorced Wives of Beverly Hills next season,’” he said.

Grammer revealed that he wished he had been more honest about the fact that their relationship wasn’t going to make it.

“I was trying to do some noble gesture to make the destruction of the previous marriage go easier somehow and that was a mistake,” he explained. “I should have walked home and said ‘we’re done. You finally have everything you wanted, and I’ve found a new life.’”

Kelsey married Kayte Walsh, 30, in February 2011 at NYC’s Longacre Theater, after expediting his divorce from Camille two weeks earlier in order to fast-track his nuptials.

In the interview, the Cheers star opens up about the first steps to his new love.

“It was insane,” he said of their meeting. “It was like all the planets had danced together into a segregated charm on our behalf.”

“Does it feel like the first time you’ve had proper love?” Morgan asked.

“No question about it,” Grammer said.

Kelsey Grammer split from his former wife, Camille Grammer, after 13 years of marriage. They have two children, Mason, 9, and Jude, 3.
