Nicolas Cage was arrested in New Orleans this morning after a loud argument with his wife.

According to TMZ, the incident was reported to the police by a cab driver who claimed the actor looked “very drunk”, screaming at his wife Alice and even pushing her.

As the cops arrived, they told the couple to just go home but Cage then asked, “Why don’t you just arrest me?”

As he dared the police again, he was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse and disturbing the peace.

TMZ reports the actor is still in custody, awaiting a bail hearing.

The site adds that the actor’s wife doesn’t want him charged and says there was no physical contact.
