TMZ has obtained a police report detailing Lindsay Lohan’s every move in the jewelry store.
First, Lindsay tried on several pieces of expensive jewelry. She walked in, removed her necklaces and placed them on the counter. The report says, “Ms. Lohan then proceeds to try on numerous rings and three different necklaces including the missing yellow diamond necklace.”
Then Lindsay continued shopping while wearing the yellow necklace.
When the owner locked the store he let Lindsay and her friend Patrick continue to shop. At that point Lindsay tried to negotiate a ring, took $3,000 cash out of her purse and offered it in exchange for the ring, but the owner refused. Lindsay then said, “Ok, we’ll come back tomorrow.”
As Lindsay was getting ready to leave the store, she put her own necklaces back on her neck, along with the yellow necklace and left the store. When the owner noticed that the yellow necklace was missing, he thought Lindsay had took it by mistake and would return it the following day, which never happened.
On Wednesday Lohan pleaded not guilty to the charge. She has a chance at getting a mild punishment: the judge can decide to reduce the offense to a misdemeanor if Lindsay stays out of trouble for 12 months.
Her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, has said, “Ms. Lohan maintains her innocence, and now that I’ve seen the police reports, I believe the case is entirely defensible.”
In the meantime, the troubled star took to Twitter to lash out at the accusations.
“I would never steal, in case people are wondering.” Lindsay wrote, “In case people are wondering, I was not raised to lie, cheat, or steal.”
“Also, what I wear to court shouldn’t be front page news. it’s just absurd. god bless xox L” she added.
Lohan is due in court February 23 when it will be decided if the theft charge is sending her back to jail on a probation violation.
