Renee Zellweger has signed a new contract to play Bridget Jones for the third time.
While Helen Fielding, author of the first two books at the origin of the saga, hasn’t ended to this day the process of ending the series, the production company Working Title Films has confirmed that a third film is underway.
According to Entertainment Weekly, no other details were revealed.
Colin Firth, who plays Bridget’s boyfriend Mark Darcy in the first two films, shared a few lines of a possible scenario.
“Bridget and Mark can’t have children, I think that’s the way it goes on,” he told Access Hollywood last year.
“So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [Hugh Grant’s character] for long enough to get pregnant. I think he dumps her, and guess who comes back to rescue her?”
Fortunately for Renee Zellweger, Bridget Jones’s character won’t have to be chubby this time.
According to insiders, Renee, 42, may instead wear a “fat suit” for filming.
In 2001, Bridget Jones’s Diary raised $ 254 million in worldwide box office, while in 2004, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason raised $ 228 million.
