The actress stopped by for an interview on Late Night with David Letterman Monday evening.

Salma talked about her precocious four-year old daughter Valentina that she had with husband Francois-Henri Pinault, and her sense of fashion despite her very young age.

During the interview, Hayek revealed how she struggled to kick her smoking habit thanks to motherhood.

She said, “I stopped (for) two years when I was pregnant and I was breastfeeding. Thank god I breastfed for so long because it kept me away from the cigarettes… I tried to give it up but then I picked it up again… I tried everything… (but) I am free and clear now. Yes! For good!”

The actress is currently voicing a part in Puss in Boots, a children’s animated movie opening in theaters on Friday.

The 45-year-old Mexican American actress also talked about how devastated she was when she was banned from wearing high-heels after tearing two ligaments in her foot last year.

“The worst part about it is you can’t wear heels. You’ve never been a Mexican short woman! This is tragic. I often say, had it not been for high heels, I would still be in Coatzacoalcos with 10 kids!” the 5ft 1in beauty said.

Salma further revealed that the doctors want her to undergo a surgery to correct her foot, but the actress admits that she is scared to do so.

She revealed: “They want me to have surgery but I’m not keen. I don’t like surgery.”

“When I was 16, I looked 19. When I was 19, I looked 25. But I got stuck on 25 – thank God! – until I was 35. So that was good. But it’s also important to take care of your skin because if you’re not careful, one day you’ll wake up and a spider will have taken over your face and you’ll be full of lines,” she said.

“I have no Botox. The thought of a needle coming to my forehead, it really gives me the heebie-jeebies. So I’d rather put on my creams. It’s fun, it smells good, and it’s relaxing. Am I opposed to doing it later? I don’t know. I want to see how far I can go.”
