Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds have parted ways

“After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage,” they say in a statement. “We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”

Both actors are now living apart.

A source told Usmagazine that the couple had separated two weeks ago. Johansson was the one who initiated the separation, as she had “been unhappy for a while.” “They spent a lot of time apart when they are working,” the source explained.

The couple had united their destinies in September 2008 in British Columbia, near Vancouver. They had begun dating in 2007.

This fall, Reynolds was named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine.
