The relationship between Sean Penn and Scarlett Johansson debuted a few months after the actress’ divorce from her husband Ryan Reynolds. Now Scarlett surprises everyone again with her split from Sean Penn.

A source claims that suspicion of a breakup arose when at the Cannes screening of the film Three of Life, in which Penn is the protagonist, Scarlett didn’t show up with her boyfriend.

But the actress was busy filming The Avengers, in New Mexico, where she reprises her role as Black Widow in Iron Man 2.

Events and private meetings where the two actors were spotted flirting heavily, including a lunch date in Los Angeles, a relaxing trip to Mexico, a recent formal dinner at the White House, which they attended as a couple, convinced the whole world that they were a couple.
