Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn in love?

Just weeks after announcing her separation from husband Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett Johnasson, 26, reportedly has a new man in her life in the person of actor Sean Penn, 50, according to Us magazine.

A source revealed that the two actors had started dating in early January, while Johansson was staying at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles for the filming of We Bought a Zoo, in which she stars alongside Matt Damon.

Although Penn seems a surprising choice from Johansson, a source says a common cause was particularly close to each other.

The source said: “Scarlett first reached out to Sean when she was planning to visit Haiti with Oxfam. She knew Sean was living there in a tent and turned to him for advice.”

Although the project initiated by Johansson didn’t ultimately get to be materialized, the actress still had time to develop romantic feelings for Penn.

“Scarlett’s smitten with him,” the insider adds.

Sean Penn has separated from his wife, Robin Wright, last August after 14 years of marriage.

UPDATE: Scarlett’s rep denied any romantic connection between the two actors in a statement to People: “Scarlett and Sean are not dating – they have been friends for years. Nothing more, nothing less. They have been talking over the last few months regarding Haiti Relief and Scarlett’s upcoming trip to Haiti as Oxfam’s Global Ambassador.”
