Actors Sean Penn and Christian Bale will play for the first time together in “The Last Photograph”, a drama about the war in Afghanistan, directed by Niels Arden Oplev.

In May, Sean Penn and Christian Bale will have busy schedules, as Penn will go to Cannes to present “The Tree of Life” by Terrence Malick and “Must Be the Place” by Paolo Sorrentino, and Bale will take the bat suit again for “The Dark Knight Rises”, the next film in the “Batman” series.

But starting next year, their agendas will finally be in line, as Sean Penn and Christian Bale will appear for the first time together in “The Last Photograph”, a drama about the war in Afghanistan directed by Niels Arden Oplev, director of the Swedish trilogy “Millennium.”

Playing the role of a former member of the U.S. special forces, determined to find a family member who had disappeared, Sean Penn travels the entire country, along with a journalist played by Christian Bale, who will accept to accompany him, in exchange for exclusivity for that story.
