In an interview for the January issue of GQ magazine, Winona Ryder evoked an unflattering memory about Mel Gibson.
Old memories that go back 15 years ago. During a lavish Hollywood party, where she was accompanied by a gay friend, she found herself near the “Mad Max” actor, who did not hesitate to tell a joke about gays before making a hateful allusion to Jews.
“Fifteen years ago, I was at one of those big Hollywood parties. And he was really drunk,” Ryder, 39, tells GQ. “I was with my friend, who’s gay. [Gibson] made a really horrible gay joke.”
The actor continued joking. “Somehow it came up that I was Jewish,” Ryder says. “He said something about ‘oven dodgers,’ but I didn’t get it. I’d never heard that before. It was just this weird, weird moment.”
It’s the kind of story that won’t improve the image of Mel Gibson in Hollywood and worldwide.
On family and children, Winona seems to have made her choice. She focuses her career for fear of being forgotten.
