Football star David Beckham is considering launching his own line of underwear. The star, who has already proved he could pose in underwear for Emporio Armani, now feels ready to promote his own collection.
“The whole planet went nuts when David stripped off for his Armani ads. Sales went through the roof. It was decided not to renew the Armani contract and develop a business of David’s own. He has seen how fulfilling it has been for Victoria to branch out and relishes a similar challenge,” an insider told MTV UK.
As it often happens with the Beckhams, he is relying on the help of his wife Victoria, who has already proved her talents as a stylist on many occasions.
“David is 35 and knows he won’t be playing football (soccer) forever. But he’s an icon for men all over the world and he wears pants like no one can – so makes sense for him to launch his own,” a source tells Britain’s News of the World.
David, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy team, is supported by his manager Simon Fuller and Alasdhair Willis, the husband of the famous fashion designer Stella McCartney.
His wife Victoria, who launched her first clothing collection in 2008, will also participate in the development of the collection of underwear by David. The same source revealed that Alasdhair Willis is said to be “focused on turning David into a major fashion presence.”
