Yvette Vickers, an actress known for having posed for Playboy and starred in the films “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” and “Attack of the Giant Leeches”, was found dead last week at her home in Benedict Canyon in California.
She could have been dead for months, police says.
This is a story as horrible as the films in which she used to play in the 1950s. Actress Yvette Vickers, a former Playmate, was found dead at her home in Los Angeles a few days ago.
Yvette Vickers, 82, was discovered by a neighbor in her house on April 27.
According to the first examinations, Yvette Vickers had been dead for almost year. Her body was almost mummified when it was found.
Her neighbor, actress Susan Savage, ventured into the house after finding that the mail was piling up in the mailbox. She was concerned about not seeing Vickers, who was reputed to live in seclusion and had grown “paranoid” in her later years.
She forced the door of her home, and upstairs, she found the rotting corpse of the former Playmate amidst a mountain of trash, clothing and letters of any kind.
The cause of death has yet to be determined by the medical examiner’s office in Los Angeles but all indications are that it’s of natural origin.
“We’ve all been crying about this,” said Savage. “Nobody should be left alone like that.”
A gloomy and tragic death, for Yvette Vickers, who was best known for playing in The Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, a classic sci-fi kitsch from the 1950s.
