Anorexic model Isabelle Caro, who became famous after posing naked for a massive advertising campaign, has caused a real tragedy in her family.
After the girl’s death in November at age 28, reports say her mother killed herself.
“[Marie] felt guilty for having put my daughter in the Bichat Hospital. My daughter did not want to go to that hospital,” Isabelle’s stepfather, Christian Caro, said.
Exhausted and terribly sad, he told the Swiss newspaper 20 minutes that he launched a legal complaint against the hospital.
In a statement released after his stepdaughter’s death, he said Isabelle had died “from the successive consequences of negligence by the medical staff.”
Anorexic since 2002, the young woman died November 17, 2010. In 2008 Isabelle released an autobiography called The Little Girl Who Didn’t Want to Get Fat in which she wrote that her mother appeared to resent her growing up.
The model famously appeared naked in a shocking ad campaign by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani in 2007 for an Italian fashion house.
