J.R. Martinez wins 13th season of Dancing with the Stars

The fall season of DWTS was won by J.R. Martinez.

Previously unknown to the public, the soldier-turned-actor teamed up with professional dancer Karina Smirnoff, who won her first trophy since she’s been on the show.

Martinez and Smirnoff competed against the other two finalists, Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake.

After Ricki Lake was eliminated, the two finalists performed their last dance on samba to Ricky Martin’s Shake Your Bon Bon. The two pair managed to achieve perfect scores from the judges.

However, the winner was decided after the scores from the judges and the public vote were balanced.

“First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who voted for us for 10 weeks,” Martinez said. ” Thank you , America , for believing in us.”

Then he addressed his partner, Karina, saying, “You are amazing, and I’m so grateful I was able to be a part of your first mirror-ball trophy.”

Kardashian still kept a smile: “I’m super thankful. This is such a crazy experience. I’m definitely not sad. I won in my book.”
