The Middleton sisters have gotten ahead of singers, actresses and entertainers who had known stardom long before they did.

According to the Daily Mail, Kate Middleton leads the ranking of beauty icons of 2011. The classic dresses, brown hair and the decision to do her own make up have given her a unique style that has captivated the world.

The same qualities, along with a perfect tan and natural make up choices, helped her sister Pippa win second place.

Cheryl Cole, who topped the ranking last year, finds herself in the third position before Rihanna.

TV presenter Holly Willoughby and British singer Tulisa Contostavlos came fifth and sixth.

Beyoncé, Emma Watson, Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham are, in turn, in the top 10 beauty icons of 2011.

Superdrug Director of beauty Sara Wolverson, who commissioned the research, said: “As always, our Beauty Icons survey gives a snapshot of the changing face of British beauty. A key change is the continued rise of the brunette, with three-quarters of the top 20 sporting brown hair.”

“Everyone in the list has a distinct look, whether it’s natural beauty, full octane glamour or a love of beauty trend hopping.”
