The supermodels grace the December cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK, inspired by the rock group Duran Duran.
Each of the five supermodels posed as a member of the band: Naomi Campbell, 41, “became” Simon Le Bon, lead singer of Duran Duran, and his real-life wife, Yasmin Le Bon, 47, “became” one of the British band’s guitarists.
Cindy Crawford, 45, posed as guitarist John Taylor, Helena Christensen, 42, appeared on drums, imitatinh Roger Taylor, and Eva Herzigova, 38, played keyboards, posing as Nick Rhodes.
The five supermodels appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar wearing black Dolce & Gabbana corsets.
Coordinated by Vanessa Coyle, the pictorial was designed to be used in the latest video of the British group for the single “Girl Panic”.
The video in which the five supermodels appear is directed by Jonas Ackerlund.
At the shoot, which took place in June, were also present designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
Nick Rhodes, keyboardist of the band Duran Duran, spoke about this project: “Harpers had approached us about collaborating with the magazine on something really special when the new album came out.”
“I’d had had this crazy idea for a video for the song Girl Panic!, that looked fantastic on paper, but that I thought in reality would be impossible to pull off,” he added.
“The idea was to recreate a day-in-the-life of the band, with five of the world’s greatest supermodels playing all of us. Lucy loved the idea of doing a cover shoot within the video itself – and so it all began.”
The video for “Girl Panic” will be released on the Internet first and will have its TV debut towards the end of the year.
The December issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK goes on sale November 3.
