Prince William and Kate paddle away to Canadian “Honeymoon Island”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge showed their skill at canoeing on Tuesday as they took a trip by canoe to Eagle Island, known to locals by the name of “Honeymoon Island”.
Will and Kate left Blachford Lake Lodge in the Northwest Territories Tuesday and headed to Eagle’s Island. The place is so far north that the sun only disappears at sunset for a short moment, in what is known as the slowest sunset on earth.
William is said to have planned the getaway after their Canadian plans were over.
The couple spent three hours on the island, enjoying a dinner consisting of local cranberries, bannock break and caribou steaks cooked by a chef on an open campfire.
On Wednesday, the two are leaving for Calgary and after that they will be flying to California on Friday.
