Toddlers and Tiaras: 3-year-old wears Pretty Woman costume

The reality TV show Toddlers and Tiaras is shocking again: a mother dressed her 3-year-old daughter as a prostitute.

The debate over the hyper-sexualization of children is not over.

Recently, a scandal broke out when tot mom Lindsay Jackson dressed her 4-year-old daughter as a mini version of country singer Dolly Parton, known for her ample cleavage, with false breasts and butt enhancements.

Now, controversy is sparked again as the mother of a 4-year-old girl decides to dress her child as the prostitute.

Wearing a neon yellow wig, a spandex miniskirt and thigh-high boots, the toddler resembles Julia Roberts’ character in the 1990 movie Pretty Woman.

While judges on the panel found Paisley ‘s outfit amusing, not everybody is of the same opinion.

“I would never, ever do that to my little girl, ever,” the mother of one of the other contestants said. “Us pageants moms already take a huge rap for what we’re doing to our little girls, and it’s outfits like that that give us a bad rap.”

And she’s not the only one who has expressed outrage at such behavior. The Parental Television Council (PTC) has protested against the series.

“We have a serious problem when The Learning Channel* features a toddler, who probably hasn’t even learned to read, dressed as a prostitute showing off her sexy strut,” says Melissa Henson, director of communications and public education for the PTC:

“There’s no question, TV executives are complicit in robbing these small kids of their childhood. For years we’ve seen adult sexuality being inappropriately and aggressively foisted on innocent young children, but children today are being sexualized at younger and younger ages.”
