The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will launch a center aimed at cancer treatment for children at the Royal Marsden Hospital, later this month.
On September 29 Prince William, President of the Royal Marsden Hospital since 2007, succeeding his mother, will officially open the center. He will be joined by his wife Kate.
According to Us magazine, the unit specializes in diagnostic, research, treatment and rehabilitation and it’s one of the largest of its kind in Europe . It will host nearly 5,000 children a year and will have approximately 600 hospitalized children.
William and Kate will be given a tour of the unit, they will meet the hospital staff and patients, as well as major donors and fundraisers.
“The Duchess is using the next few months to get to get to know a number of charitable and other causes better, so she can make well informed decisions about her future role,” a spokesman told People.
“The Duchess has a broad range of interests,” the spokesman said, referring to Kate’s private visits to charities to figure out what sorts of causes she will pursue, which, “will be different to but complement her husband’s existing interests.”
