On Friday, William and Kate arrived in Los Angeles where they continued their Canadian and North American tour.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the BAFTA Brits to Watch gala in Los Angeles.

In a lilac light dress signed Alexander McQueen and wearing earrings borrowed from the Queen, Kate arrived on the red carpet at the Belasco Theatre accompanied by William, who wore a classic black tux. In true celebrity style, the Duchess greeted the fans and signed autographs.

“In terms of pure star quality, William and Kate are the biggest stars in the world,” said Piers Morgan, who was present at the event.

Nicole Kidman also shared her impression of the royal couple: “I think they are lovely, they just make you smile.”

Kate and William spent the evening in the company of Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively, Jack Black, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson and Jennifer Garner among others.

Nicole Kidman, Barbra Streisand and husband James Brolin were the lucky ones who were seated at the table with the royal couple, along with studio executives and diplomats.

Before the royal couple entered the ballroom, Duncan Kenworthy, vice chairman of British Academy of Film and Television Arts, gave a few instruction to the the star-studded audience.

He said: “They want to meet all of you. They will try and chat to all of you this evening. When you meet them, you don’t have to bow and curtsy. You can call them whatever you feel, ‘Your Royal Highness,’ ‘Sir,’ ‘Ma’am,’ ‘William’ and ‘Kate’ – just as the mood takes you.”
